MI thermocouple material is metal sheathed thermocouple cable that is cut, stripped, beaded, closed, potted, and tested by equipment designed and built in-house exclusively for these tasks. Replacement TC probes are available in 6 inch (150 mm), 12 inch (300 mm), and 18 inch (450 mm) lengths.


A Type K thermocouple refers to any temperature sensor containing Chromel and Alumel conductors, that meets the output requirements as stated in ANSI/ASTM E230 or IEC 60584 for Type K thermocouples. This may be an immersion sensor, a surface sensor, wire or another style of sensor or cable.

Thermowells are cylindrical fittings used to protect temperature sensors installed in industrial processes. A thermowell consists of a tube closed at one end and mounted in the process stream.

Strength versus accurate and fast temperature measurement is a balancing act. The factors which tend to produce high strength also tend to reduce the temperature sensor's accuracy and speed of response. A properly selected thermowell will balance these opposing factors to produce a design capable of functioning satisfactorily in the intended application, selection.
